Marrakech to Merzouga is about 530 to 560 kilometres and takes roughly nine and a half hours of driving. Nothing shortens that. The road crosses the High Atlas at the Tizi n’Tichka pass, around 2,260 metres, then runs east along the pre-Saharan valleys through Ouarzazate, the Dades and Tinghir.
