It is the only desert trip that genuinely works in one night.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Three days and you want the classic Sahara:<\/strong> Merzouga. Erg Chebbi is the tall, photogenic dune sea most people picture.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Three days and you want fewer people:<\/strong> Erg Chegaga. Bigger, wilder, harder to reach, far quieter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Zagora: the short one<\/h2>\n<p>Zagora sits at the edge of the Draa Valley, about 350&nbsp;km south of Marrakech over the Tizi n&rsquo;Tichka pass &mdash; close to six hours of driving, and longer with the stops that make the day worth doing Because it is the closest desert of the three, it is the only one that fits into a <a href=\"https:\/\/moroccosaharaspirit.com\/fr\/trip\/2-day-sahara-tour-to-zagora-from-marrakech\/\">two-day Sahara trip<\/a> without the whole thing turning into a drive.<\/p>\n<p>The trade-off is the sand. Zagora\u2019s dunes are modest compared with Erg Chebbi or Erg Chegaga \u2014 lower, smaller, and closer to the road. What you get instead is the Draa Valley itself: one of the longest palm oases in Morocco, kasbahs, and a night in a desert tent with dinner and breakfast included.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Choose Zagora if<\/strong> your trip is tight, you want to sleep in the desert, and you accept that the dunes are a taste rather than the full thing.<\/p>\n<h2>Merzouga: the classic<\/h2>\n<p>Merzouga is the Sahara most people have in their head. It can be done, but you spend roughly twenty hours in a vehicle to stand on a dune for one evening. If two days is genuinely all you have, Zagora is the better use of them.<\/p>\n<h2>Frequently asked questions<\/h2>\n<h3>Can I do any of these as a private tour?<\/h3>\n<p>Yes. Every route we run can be arranged privately for your group rather than as a shared departure, on your own dates.<\/p>\n<h3>How cold does the desert get at night?<\/h3>\n<p>Colder than people expect, especially between November and February, when night temperatures in the dunes can drop close to freezing even after a warm day.
